On intelliot.com, the sidebar placement averages $0.68 eCPM.

Range: $0.51 to $0.86

Replacing it with a top leaderboard: one blend, one shadow.

Previously, the ad spot earned $0.38. By moving the ad to the next line, the new eCPM is $1.41! This is based on data from Dec 21-23 (21 and 23 are partial days). That's a 271% improvement!

I'm not sure exactly what made the biggest difference: having the ad on its own line (nothing left or right of it), centering the ad, or moving it lower (below the logo).

Perhaps I should test above-the-logo placement as well. How do you think that would perform?

I ran 2 ads in 50/50 rotation in the top right position. The average eCPM: $0.38

The blended ad: $0.73, $0.02, $0.40, $0.02

Performed slightly better than the Seaside color scheme with Very Rounded corners: $0.02, $0.39, $0.04

Still not great. I don't think that's a very good spot for AdSense.

I'm not sure whether this is a good move, but who knows until we test, right? I'll try this for a couple days, and then try using a link unit in the same position. (GC)

I received my "December 2007 Optimization Report" on Dec 11. I wonder why it's some 10 days late... most of the other months came on the 1st.

The sole tip?
"You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site."

There are now two large rectangles on the homepage and a 468px banner in the top header.

What changed on December 8?

From Saturday, November 24, 2007 to Saturday, December 8, 2007, I never earned less than $10/day.

From Sunday, December 9, 2007 to Tuesday, December 18, 2007, I never earned more than $10/day (average $8.33).

Ad unit impressions went down about 40%.

Ad Impressions went down about 30%.

I think I changed one of the ad placements on my sites, but I don't remember which. That's why I'm starting this AdSense Journal.
